In 1948, the senator and writer Pablo Neruda accused the Chilean government of betraying the communists in congress. President González Videla defies him and orders his capture. The poet fled the country with his wife. While being pursued by the prefect of the police, Neruda begins to write “Canto general” and becomes a symbol of freedom and literary legend.
